3-D Community Services and Housing, a nonprofit organization that was incorporated on January 2003, was founded by Mr. Brian Dorsey for the purpose of providing community services and housing to the residents of Philadelphia. 3-D Community Services and Housing's vision is to build a better community one step at a time through self-empowerment, self-sufficiency, and mutual respect.
The mission of 3-D Community Services and Housing is to address the needs of the family in the 21st century through educational, technological, and housing.
3-D Community Services and Housing believes in taking a holistic approach in working with the entire family. Services are provided not only to the children but also the extended family. 3-D Community Services and Housing believes that by strengthening the entire family we can then build the rest of the community. The three pillars of 3-D Community Services and housing are education, technology, and housing.
In the area of education, 3-D Community Services and Housing is looking at 21st Century innovative ideas in education to provide to the community. One of these innovative approaches is Project Based Learning (PBL). In all of our educational programs we have adopted the concept of PBL which is that learning should be driven by students and facillated by teachers.
In the area of technology, 3-D community Services and Housing provides adult computer training, youth computer training, and computer refurbishing. 3-D Community Services and housing has explored other concepts such as virtual campuses that provide extended services to the community. 3-D Community Services and Housing has an online virtual office that provides services 24hours a day seven days a week.
In the area of Housing, 3-D Community Services and housing is working with other organizations to address the needs of the community. We provide referral services to families in need of housing to the Salvation Army, as well as, other community Development Corporations (CDCs). 3-D community Services and Housing believes that home ownership is best achieved through housing counseling and financial literacy. We have partnered with the FDIC to provide financial literacy.
